Spread Cheers This Season

This New Year, two groups from Delhi-based Wingify will head to Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. “We replaced our year-end trip with equivalent department or team trips. Rather than having the entire office travel together, we made it more flexible for teams to decide the destination, dates and itinerary and travel as a smaller group,” said Chief Technology Officer Sparsh Gupta.

The startup has also introduced international travel as a reward. “Wingifighters who stay and thrive with the company are given these awards on achieving defined yearly milestones. With the new policy, our people get to travel to international destinations with their friends, families and colleagues in relatively smaller groups,” added Gupta.

Data security firm BugsBounty.com, which has had a good year, has just sent the high performers of its tech team on an all-expense-paid trip to Dubai for four days. On their return, the startup will ring in 2017 with a bonus distribution party, where as much as .`1 crore will be distributed among the hackers who make up their team, said Director Ankush Johar.

Holidays are popular with others as well. Online furniture rental company Furlenco, which raised its second funding of Rs 200 crore in October, took its entire design team to a nature camp near Salem in Tamil Nadu for its festive celebrations. Being in the lap of nature in a relatively inaccessible location gave them the opportunity to engage in teambuilding activities and build better connections.

The same rationale is being followed by HomePunch, an e-commerce firm offering home appliances, which is taking its employees on a trip to the hilly terrains of Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh.

“We wanted to go somewhere a little cut-off, so that we could really connect as a team outside the normal confines of office. This is the first time we are doing an outstation trip so it's doubly special for us,” said Chief Executive Sachin Goel.
